Hi Everyone, We would like to thank everyone who helped us sell ice cream at Vetesnik’s. The ice cream was really good, but we didn’t make a lot of money. We did have a good time doing it. We are not sure if we will do it again next year. Chapter I has had a couple of setbacks in July. On July 4, Dale Steuer and Deb Finn had a motorcycle accident. They speculate that it was caused by high wind and bad gravel on the shoulder of the highway. Deb is healed up, but Dale has spinal cord injuries. We are not sure what the outcome will be yet. He is in rehab at St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids. We are hoping and praying for the best. Just a note: both Dale and Deb were wearing proper riding attire. They had no road rash to hinder their recovery. On July 12, one of our life members, Janet Payne passed away at home with her husband, Wayne. She has a family history of heart problems. We will all miss her greatly. She was one of the sweetest people we know. Our next social will be Sunday, September 26, at Black Hawk Family Restaurant, E11394 US Hwy 12, Sauk City at 10:00 a.m. We will meet at the Park & Ride in Belmont at 8:15 to ride up. Dan & Kathy Bockhop are our hosts. Until next time, Roger & Carolyn Fries Chapter I Directors Last month we wrote about how the sun and the heat can affect you if exposed for long periods of time while riding. How else can sun affect you? Americans have a 1 in 74 lifetime risk of developing melanoma, which kills almost 7,800 people each year. Melanoma is often curable if detected and treated early. Can it happen to me? Prolonged exposure to sun, no daily sunscreen used, fair complexion, red hair, freckling, and increased age. Do you fit one of these criteria? Then yes, it can happen to you! More details on this subject at our September social .....
