Well, here we are. It’s September already -- the month to fly our stars and stripes to honor our veterans and military personnel serving now to preserve our freedom. A very big "Thank You" to all who have served or are now serving our great U.S.A. Time surely flies. July was a very busy month. Wing Ding is now history, as is our seventh annual ride to Rockton for chicken. Tina and I recently returned from a very fun-filled two-week cycling vacation to the Canadian Rockies. We also enjoyed our participation in the annual Ride for Kids in Middleton where all the riders worked to raise $103,445 for the program to help kids across the country. Although the number of participating riders was down from last year and the amount raised was as well, all of us who participated were proud to help. Tina and I served as road guards for the ride. We were joined in that service by local police officers and volunteers from Wisconsin Dells Chapter 18 of the Blue Knights. Thanks to all who gave their time and energies to make this event successful. I’m also proud to report that Chapter D may add two new members to our ranks. I’ll provide the details of this endeavor next month. This month I want to offer a special thanks to our Chapter D Educator, Jim Chambers, for the excellent work he does each month in providing the chapter with material on education and safety. He also is to be commended for leading a great ride to Rockton this year. Several of our non-chapter D members commented on how much fun they had on this year’s ride. Well done, Jim! Our September social will be held at Baraboo’s Pizza Ranch at 7:00 on Friday, September 3. Hope to see you all there! Until then, ride proud and safe and we’ll see you "down the road."
